Where you’re going

Travelers Rest got its name as a place where travelers stopped to rest along their journey. It still works that way.

Acute cAbin sits in the foothills north of downtown, about half a mile from Hotel Domestique and minutes from The Cliffs Valley. Downtown Travelers Rest is about 20 minutes away, and downtown Greenville about 35.

Road cyclists ride right past the house. Mountain biking, rock climbing and waterfall hikes are all close, and so are wineries, breweries and good places to eat.

Why you’ll want to stay

Acute cAbin is a classic A-frame on a wooded lot. The ceiling climbs all the way to the peak, a spiral staircase leads up to the loft, and a long deck runs across the front. One recent guest called it “very clean and comfortable” and said the beds were “very comfy.”

The living room and kitchen sit under the peak. Yes, the fridge really is that green.
The loft bedroom, tucked right under the A.
The deck table seats six.

What’s here

  • Two bedrooms with queen beds, one of them up in the loft
  • A sofa bed in the living room
  • Two full bathrooms
  • A full kitchen
  • A long front deck with a table for six
  • A covered gazebo with lounge chairs, put up by the hosts for shade
  • Wi-Fi, a smart TV and ductless AC
  • Self check-in and parking for three cars

Your two nights

Here’s one way to spend them.

  1. First evening

Let yourselves in with the self check-in lockbox and decide who gets the loft. Eat dinner on the deck, or if nobody wants to cook, Restaurant 17 is about half a mile away.

  2. The full day

Hike to Rainbow Falls at Jones Gap, ride the road route that passes the house, or spend the afternoon on Main Street and the Swamp Rabbit Trail in downtown Travelers Rest. Stop at a winery on the way back, then end the night in the gazebo.

  3. Last morning

Sleep in, take your time over breakfast and get one more look at the woods before an 11 AM checkout.

The gazebo, for slow evenings outside.

Meet your host

From an SMC professor,
for SMC students.

Dr. Taylor Brickley teaches Criminal Justice at Spartanburg Methodist College. He and his wife bought Acute cAbin in August, and they’re donating two nights to Dueling Pianos so the winning bid can help SMC students.

They climb and mountain bike in these foothills themselves, so if you win, ask them where to go. On Airbnb, Taylor responds within an hour, with a 100% response rate and a 5.0 host rating.

Why bid tonight

It’s a stay people already pay for.

The cabin is a working Airbnb with 5-star reviews. Whatever you bid helps a student.

It’s close to home.

No flights to book. The cabin is about an hour from SMC’s campus.

There’s only one.

One cabin, two nights, one winner. When bidding closes, it’s gone.

Where your bid goes

Dueling Pianos raises money for SMC students, for things like the Angel Fund and the Pioneer Pantry. The Angel Fund is a safety net for students in a tough spot. If a student’s car breaks down at home over break, it can help get the car fixed or get them back to campus. The Pioneer Pantry is SMC’s food pantry for students.

Proceeds from the silent auction benefit Spartanburg Methodist College students.
